Aunna Bollman being arrested again was a matter of time and predictable

 

It was not if but a matter of time when Aunna Sophia Bollman would fail because mental health diversion has yet to work except for one defendant I have covered in 12 years of Humboldt Superior Court.

Bollman already has 12 prior criminal cases, 3 restraining orders which were granted and a fourth requested by City of Eureka after death threats and explicit threats by Aunna Bollman to current and former elected officials and City of Eureka staff.

Humboldt Superior Court Judge Steven Steward reluctantly granted Bollman mental health diversion. He had scheduled regular two weeks reviews but that cannot be done indefinitely and even when those reviews were there, Bollman was clueless why. Agencies just say compliance for court reports but from the repeated arrests of Aunna Bollman, James Leach and Analia Martinez to name just three people I have covered and they are just three examples of failed mental health diversion.

Deputy DA Carolyn Schaffer was the prosecutor for Bollman's previous cases. Other Humboldt Deputy DAs have also appeared on cases and hearings. Gregory Kreis was her attorney.

Arcata Police Department arrested Bollman yesterday evening for PC 422(a) criminal threats, PC148(a)(1) resisting arrest, VC 2800.2 reckless evading, VC 20002(a)(1) hit and run involving property damage and VC 23103(a) reckless driving. If charges are filed for this arrest, that would be her 13th criminal case.

Between new arrests and repeat offenders daily with multiple cases, the number of cases I follow are now 50 to 60 daily. To cover, update is challenging and people who are at Humboldt Superior Court or familiar know why, I have written about the reasons several times. The system is already overloaded.  There is no way to keep up and we all know why this is happening and who is to blame.

Michelle Rowland filed a petition for a workplace restraining order against Bollman on 9/22/26. There is a hearing on that petition on the TRO on 10/14/26. Rowland is with New Life Discovery Project on 7/14/26 which is next to Scrapper's Edge. Humboldt Commissioner Sarah Kaber granted the TRO until the hearing. Both parties are pro per.

APD Press Release:

On September 28, 2026, at approximately 5:00 PM, the Arcata Police Department received reports of an erratic driver in the area between the 1000 block of 7th St. and the 1000 block of 15th St. in Arcata. The associated vehicle, a blue Subaru, had reportedly stuck at least three other vehicles and nearly stuck an unknown number of pedestrians.  Officers with the Arcata Police Department responded to search the area for the vehicle.

An Arcata Police Officer located the Subaru in the area of 16th and J St. and initiated a traffic enforcement stop. The driver, identified as 34-year-old Aunna Bollmann of Humboldt County, fled in her vehicle and a pursuit was initiated. 

Bollmann fled through the City of Arcata, to northbound US Highway 101 from Giuntoli Ln. She proceeded to the City of Trinidad, where officers with the California Highway Patrol, who were on scene assisting, then deployed spike strips. The deployment of spike strips was successful, and the vehicle was disabled a short time later. 

Bollmann attempted to flee on foot but was ultimately taken into custody. Bollmann was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility, where she was booked on the following charges: 

VC 2800.2(a) - Evading a peace officer with wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property 

PC 148(a)(1) - Obstructing or resisting a peace officer 

VC 20002(a) - Hit-and-Run 

VC 23103(a) - Reckless Driving

PC 422(a) - Criminal Threats
