John Chiv: 1 year diversion, stay away from GOP headquarters and he gets his bike back

Instead of trial setting, GOP vandalism suspect Michael Valls resolved his case today with a one year diversion per PC 1000 which is California's pretrial diversion program for drug crimes involving simple possession.

There is a stay away from the Humboldt Republican headquarters with an exception if he is on Hwy 101. There is a victim restitution review hearing on 5/26. Judge Wilson ordered EPD to return Valls bike.

Deputy Conflict Counsel April Van Dyke is Nicklas' attorney. Deputy District Attorney Ian Harris is the prosecutor.

6/22: Restitution hearing scheduled for today vacated. Defense motion to continue granted; restitution hearing rescheduled for 8/11/22. Final diversion hearing 4/26/23.
