When there is finally a fence at the Courthouse, you know there is a Countywide and Eureka citywide problem.
BOS and Measure Z committee, when you decide where future funds go, save us the soundbytes and show put on at the BOS meetings.
The Scrapper's Edge and U.S. Bank vandalism today is just one of many. Most business owners just take care of the problem; many do not report it. No business owner, especially those who need internet for a major portion of their business, should have to deal with this problem which would be unneccesary if we had elected officials who knew how to lead and implement solutions.
This is why EPD and the District Attorney need more funding because the troublemakers all over from the County and other neighboring counties like Del Norte hang out in Eureka, particularly Old Town and near the Courthouse. Start billing Crescent City for their criminals who end up here using up resources and jail beds.
District Attorney Maggie Fleming and EPD Captain Brian Stephens had to hang out and wait yesterday to give an unnecessary presentation to the BOS for something you all see with your own eyes daily.
If you did not watch the meeting, check out DA Fleming presentation about how discovery and dismissals are impacted and EPD Captain Stephens presentation. A dedicated wifi line for discovery was requested by the DA's office and she consulted with the Public Defender and Conflict Counsel's office.
Eureka City Council, give EPD some teeth and support because I bet this vandal is a frequent offender we all will recognize.
Start with a stay away order from the Courthouse if someone frequently acts out because hiding in and outside the Courthouse is where known criminals and troublemakers hang out everyday.
This sole person sleeping today is unusual.
