He had people coming up and chatting with him after the Measure Z agenda in the Board of Supervisor Chambers today, including me. Of course, duty calls and Captain Stephens went right back to work.
EPD Captain Brian Stephens has singlehandly been doing double duty. Captain Stephens is a good example of why having someone local in charge, who has been around, is invested in the community is important.
I was telling him that despite being shorthanded, EPD patrols are making a difference in certain areas of 3rd, 4th near and certain parts of 5th and 6th near downtown Eureka. I walk a lot and see EPD driving by checking on businesses and certain spots that can be an issue early morning and late at night. Other than the handful of regulars, EPD has made a difference and it is appreciated.
