Kneeland homicide suspect Austin Michael Medeiros wanted to retain a private attorney so his arraignment was continued to 4/21.
Medeiros also had a 2016 Humboldt case on calendar. There was a conviction in that case and today he is scheduled to be arraigned for probation violation.
Medeiros told Judge John Feeney, he attempted to reach private attorneys and made many phone calls but was unsuccessful.
Conflict Counsel's office represented him in the 2016 case. That office was appointed on both cases. Bail remains as set at 1 million. OR/bail was waived without prejudice. A motion regarding bail maybe filed in the future. Preliminary hearing is on May 3.
Once Conflict Counsel looks at discovery, the 90 minute time estimate provided by Ms. Myers may change.Deputy District Attorney Candace Myers is the prosecutor for the case. DA Investigator Martin Morris was in court today.
