Convicted felon Little Eagle Moon has a preliminary hearing for his most recent arrest and parole hearing scheduled for today but there is a motion to continue scheduled which will most likely be granted. Even if there was not a motion, courtroom availability is also a factor.
The hearing had a two day estimate.
There was a hearing on 4/14 on defense motion for return of property which was continuedto 5/18. Today, parole hearing continued by defense to 5/18 for pre trial. Motion to continue preliminary hearing in 2022 case was granted due to new discovery. Setting of preliminary hearing scheduled for May 18.
Moon recent arrest is from a December 2021 incident. According to Eureka Police Department, while Moon was fleeing from law enforcement during a pursuit, he was shot at by EPD Police Officer Joseph Couch when Moon rammed his vehicle into law enforcement vehicles and began driving towards officers.
While all this was happening btween the areas of 3rd and T street and 5th and V street, there were spectators, media. Later on EPD released body cam footage.
Moon is charged with two counts of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm and two special allegations of prior serious felony convictions.
The alleged victims for the attempted murder counts are HCSO Deputy Spellman Stallworth and HCSO Deputy Matt Tomlin. Alleged victim for the assault charge is Deputy Tomlin.
