Kneeland homicide suspect Austin Michael Medeiros wants to retain a private attorney so his arraignment scheduled today was continued to 4/21. The name mentioned in court today was David Schilling.
Whether that is the Sacramento or San Diego attorney or another out of area attorney and will Medeiros be able to hire him, we shall find out in a few days. Hiring an attorney who is not from Humboldt County is a smart decision if Medeiros can afford it. If it is the San Diego attorney, he does not have criminal defense listed in areas of practice. If it is the Sacramento attorney, not much information is available.
