"Rory, if this isn't about just money, then hold out and don't settle."

(Elvine-Kreis on the left, Kalin on the right on the infamous boat)

There was a case management conference today in the lawsuit filed by former Deputy Public Defender Rory Kalin against Humboldt Superior Court Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis, former Public Defender Marek Reavis and current Public Defender Luke Brownfield.

Of course, there is another continuance and October jury trial is vacated.

The out of area law firm hired by the County  and Elvine-Kreis' local lawyer, Mr. Patrik Griego are doing exactly what I predicted.

The lawyers for the defendants know a resolution will sweep everything under the rug and the public will never hear evidence. Rory, if this isn't about just money, then hold out and don't settle.

If you stand by your claims and your intent is to hold Elvine-Kreis, Reavis and Brownfield accountable; then put a state and national spotlight on this case through a jury trial. No one besides me is even covering this in Humboldt. You know how Humboldt works.

Mendocino Judge Moorman and all attorneys are appearing via Zoom. Is the court even open if media and public want to attend? I am the only one covering this case. The CMCs and dates keep being changed at the last minute more often than any other case. I don't have time to waste wondering if court is open and if the hearing is on calendar.

Rory, you made some very serious allegations. Either they are true or they are not. A behind the door resolution which will probably include  confidential agreements  and that will leave unanswered questions and lingering doubts.

I said this in my April 9 post: "I bet both Elvine-Kreis's lawyer as well as the County law firm is working on negotiating a settlement. Civil trials continued by stipulation usually mean they want a resolution without a trial and the public getting all the facts."
