On April 7, Matthew Ramsey, the defendant who claimed he was drugged by meth fumes being blown in his face, resolved his case with a plea. Sentencing is in May 19.
There was a high definition video of Ramsey shooting someone who was not a threat to him. I have linked some previous posts but if you want to read the bizarre testimony, the drama filled events that led to the arrest and the waste of Arcata Police Department and court resources, you will have to google all the posts since 2018.
Another Russ Clanton case which dragged on for years resolved with a plea. Deputy District Attorney Trent Timm appeared on the case for the People when the plea was entered.
5/19: Ramsey was sentenced to 7 years. He has 1453 custody credits.
