Conflict Counsel appointed for John Nicklas in domestic violence case

 

John Nicklas was arraigned on April 8 on one charge of PC 273.5 (a)  corporal injury to a spouse/cohabitant.  Conflict Counsel's office was appointed. Trial confirmation is 4/26; jury trial 5/16.

John, I did not have to give you a chance to tell your side of the story right after your arrest. There is a judicial process to do that through the preliminary hearing and jury trial or at an appropriate time in the future. 

I didn't have to do anything especially after you wasted hours of my time asking me to take down a legitimate post about your arrest. I wrote a follow up post the same day despite being very busy and you thanked me for the kind words. 

Then yesterday, you asked me to take the post down, again. You wasted my time, again, for a non issue. You constantly kept interrupting my work and repeating the same tired line of accepting responsibility. I had to block you to get any work done and because you don't get to fool me twice.

Is this the thanks I get? Twice in April, first Tammy Farmer and now you have abused my kindness and wasted hours of my time. She had the decency to leave me alone. You are self centered and entitled.

You seem surprised the District Attorney had charged you.

Do you think you are entitled to special treatment? Other defendants do not have the access to resources and the connections you do because of who your family is in Humboldt. If you have access to money or connections, justice in Humboldt is different and unequal. 

I gave you the benefit of doubt once. The way you are persistently contacting me, pressuring me to take the post down raises many questions and red flags. You do have a record in the local court system. If you are truly remorseful and want to move forward from what you claim is a mistake, your actions will show it. 

You were able to post bail for a hefty amount. You come from a well to do family. Now the taxpayers are paying for your legal defense. 

You had the audacity to whine yesterday when you have tons of support that others do not. You have no clue what it is like to struggle and live in fear and uncertainty. Other defendants do not have the luxury to have any income or place to stay while their cases move through the system. 

There are people falsely accused who never get the chance to tell their side or clear their name. There are people who are gossiped about daily in Humboldt and judged for no other reason other than Humboldt hate. There are people whose lives have been destroyed because it is a sport for the local good ole boys and gals in charge who only know how to attack and demolish anyone and anything in their way.
