GOP vandalism suspect preliminary continued due to "car issues", his bicycle is in evidence with EPD

Humboldt GOP vandalism suspect Michael Valls had his preliminary hearing continued to January 14. Valls wanted to be personally present. Valls was not in court after saying he would be there and the preliminary hearing was reset to February 17. He had "car issues."

Valls bicycle with Bernie Sanders' stickers was seized as evidence by Eureka Police Department. That was Valls' previous mode of transportation.

Valls is charged with second degree burglary, vandalism of the local GOP office and two counts of resisting/obstructing a police officer.

Deputy Conflict Counsel April Van Dyke is Valls' attorney. He has a 977 waiver of personal appearance on file and was not present earlier on January 14 during the preliminary roll call.

Deputy District Attorney Luke Bernthal appeared on the case for the People.

Previously, Deputy DA Roger Rees who appeared on the case said the people had one witness. That is EPD Officer Jeremy Sollom.

I am the only one who has covered this case regularly since the incident. All previous posts are accessible via the search feature on this blog.
