Five months after his conviction, Mark Dare continues to prolong the inevitable and revictimize his former stepdaughters

Status of motion for new trial and setting of sentencing for convicted molestor Mark Dare was continued to January 27. It was continued, yet again by Mr. Russ Clanton, to draft and file a memo.

Deadlines were set by Judge Kaleb Cockrum and hearing is scheduled for February 19.

Mr. Russ Clanton was appointed as counsel for convicted molestor Mark Dare for the limited purpose of to look into the discovery claim made by Dare.

Public Defender Marek Reavis remains as Dare's attorney. Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm is the prosecutor.

Mr. Clanton told Judge Kaleb Cockrum "there are a lot of pertinent issues.

"We are objecting to any further continuances," said Ms. Timm.  She said a jury convicted Dare five months ago. Mr. Clanton was appointed a month and a half ago and that at the last hearing, Mr. Clanton said he needed two weeks.

"Mr. Dare is not the only one who has rights," said Ms. Timm. She requested the court order Mr. Clanton to file the memo today.

"If it is not obvious, I want to get to sentencing," said Judge Cockrum. "But we have to follow due process."

Dare will be a witness at the next court hearing. There maybe additional witnesses. The People have to receive the memo before they can make that decision.

Mr. Clanton has to file his memo by February 3 and Ms. Timm has to file her response by February 10.

Dare has shaved his beard but kept the mustache.
