EPD having to deal with a problem created by enablers and weak laws

For the past five days, these two vehicles have not moved from the spot where they are packed. Missing is a green vehicle for two days that was parked behind the one with the busted front window.

I have walked by on that street at different times in the last few days doing errands. Usually, that street is not part of my regular routine but with the construction, my normal walking route has changed.

There is always a blonde woman who has been involved in some altercation with the Four Winds camper every time I walk by. No license plates. Once, I heard dogs barking for minutes.

There are no lights on that street once it gets dark. If someone was sleeping, living, working, there would be some movement in the day.

The only activity I have seen is in the evening or night hours. Vehicles pulling up for a couple minutes.  In the day, when I walked by, nothing. In the evening hours, a door open that was suddenly shut when I or anyone walked by.

Even pre COVID, even before the Ninth Circuit ruling, Humboldt has been too tolerant of suspicious activity and these run down vehicles that impede business, tourism and public safety.

The County has done nothing. The City of Eureka gets sued if they try to pass any ordinance by enablers who obstruct any sensible law that protects law abiding citizens and businesses.

The Board of Supervisors are making a hefty paycheck and they watch out for themselves and their cronies. They do nothing about the drugs in this community. They do nothing about slumlords.

Our state elected officials are too busy sending out "feel good" press releases while taking no meaningful action for the economy, housing challenges or the many other challenges California has faced for decades.

Many local people with "money" and "power" are too busy doing nothing except bragging about their  wealth while complaining and drinking cocktails with the elected officials they whine about privately.

If the elected officials, the businesses and the generational families with local "name" recognition had any influence in the state or nationally, we would see results in funds, attention and visits from the Governor and national officials. What lobbying has been done for Humboldt that has benefitted the community as a whole? Whether it is PPP loans or housing funds, it is all about the same few profiting.

The businesses that are being  disproportionately affected need to speak up and get organized or continue to be affected by the same issues. It is not my responsibility or anyone else to fix your problems. I can provide information and expose corruption but your silence enables it. Other media  does not even report on these issues.

Organizations such as Chamber of Commerces, Visitor Center, Main Street are funded to do what? Send out emails and brochures and only benefitting a small group of people they subjectively help.

Some of these organizations with money from the cities and County.  The same people shuffle around in leadership positions. For 18 years, there is a resistance to new people and outsiders from the left, right and others locally who play both sides.

PG & E blackouts, COVID and inept leadership created this mess. Why is law enforcement tasked with cleaning it up?

All EPD can do is tag or ask the vehicles to move. All these vehicles will do is go pollute another area of the City of Eureka.

As I am posting this, there is a press release about drugs out of a mobile home. Frequent criminal who previously lived in Mckinleyville; now Arcata.
