Former City of Eureka Manager Dean Lotter and former Public Defender David Marcus are just two examples of the unneccessary cost to taxpayers and residents of Humboldt County.
Jeffrey Blanck, the Magney loss, HUMCPR lawsuits, DOJ lawsuits, litigation from inmates in cases such as Cory Fisher, pending litigation from Rory Kalin, pending litigation against Humboldt DHHS, Connie Beck and Sheriff William Honsal are just a fraction of the cost due to inaction and ignorance by the good ole Humboldt network.
Slumlords, bad property management companies, incompetent private employees all aided and enabled by the good ole Humboldt network.
To the millionaires in Humboldt County and their psychophants, if you are so smart and successful, why are you silent about the constant financial drain on your pocketbook by bad hires and bad decisions? Where and in whom you chose to invest your money and support speaks volume about your character or lack thereof.
From bad apples in local courts, law enforcement, government agencies, private businesses and local media, there is a dark underbelly behind this picturesque small town. Be grateful if you have not been victimized by the good ole Humboldt sludge.
There are two Humboldts. Good, decent people trying to exist and survive amid the corrupt and mean, destroyers of lives and reputations.
Justice is relative and if you are a target, even money does not help. If you stand up for yourself and speak up, the Blue Velvet of Humboldt will target you.
It takes a lot to get state and federal scrutiny but that is exactly what it will take to turn things around. You can protect, ignore and cover up for your in Humboldt; even get a pass on a state level sometimes; but state and federal scrutiny is increasing. Especially, when there is money involved. For a county in which everyone in some way or the other benefits from government money, including private businesses, your hubris will be your downfall.
In a recent discussion about these Humboldt issues, someone said to me, is it corruption or incompetence? I say both. It is a requirement to be hired and succeed because the clique that controls Humboldt benefits from it.
How many more legal and financial consequences will it take to bring change and justice in Humboldt?
