Two Army National Guard members removed from inauguration duty

Since this post was published, the number of National Guards removed was 12 later in the day.

Two Army National Guard members have removed from inauguration duty. There has been a security vetting process to ensure troops do not have ties to extremist groups.

Some media reports did not have the reason for the removal. The Daily Mail reported, "Officials say they were found to have ties to fringe right group militias. It is not clear what fringe group the Guard members belonged to or what unit they served in."

NBC Washington also reported, "The two National Guard members have been found to have ties to fringe right group militias, a U.S. Army official and a senior U.S. intelligence official."

Same report by Fox5 Washington D.C.

The National Guard Bureau referred questions to the U.S. Secret Service. The National Guard said, “Due to operational security, we do not discuss the process nor the outcome of the vetting process for military members supporting the inauguration.”
