Cheryl Dillingham campaign just issued a press release about her campaign kickoff for Auditor-Controller.
The event will take place at Romano Gabriel Sculpture Garden, 315 2nd St, in Eureka on April 7 starting at 12:30. The media and public are invited.
"I am looking forward to discussing my candidacy and how we move Humboldt County forward. We need to restore trust and effectiveness to our county government," said Cheryl Dillingham.
April 6 Press Release:
In anticipation of her first public event this Thursday, Cheryl Dillingham is officially kicking off her campaign for Auditor-Controller.
Cheryl has spent her 30-year career protecting public funds from fraud, misuse and inaccurate reporting. She served over 12 years in the Auditor-Controller’s Office, including leading the department as Deputy Auditor-Controller and Interim Auditor-Controller. She also has 8 years of experience in the County Administrative Office, including as Assistant CAO.
Dillingham states “I believe in good government, and I recognize that our ability to accomplish important goals here at the local level depends upon our ability to make government work.
Children’s services, social programs, homelessness issues, food insecurity, trails, conserving forests, economic development, environment protection, affordable housing… all of these important programs are put at risk by the failure to get annual audits done on time.
The people's money needs to be protected, and as your Auditor-Controller, I’ll make sure that taxpayer money is not misused. I promise when elected to investigate fully all allegations of financial mismanagement, in a timely manner.
I am proud of my 30-plus years of service to the County and have a strong track record of working collaboratively with all parties to develop solutions that ensure transparency and fiscal responsibility.”
Cheryl’s campaign is supported by a diverse, wide ranging group of community leaders, including Sheriff Billy Honsal, Natalynne DeLapp of the Humboldt County Growers Alliance, former Arcata Mayor Alex Stillman, and former Supervisors Mark Lovelace, Jill Duffy and Julie Fulkerson.
“I'm so happy that Cheryl is running for Auditor-Controller, and she has my absolute support and endorsement,” said Lovelace in announcing his endorsement, “I worked closely with Cheryl for 8 years when I was on the Board of Supervisors and I know her to be extremely capable and reliable. She's easy to work with and gets things done with zero drama. She's exactly the right person to get the County's fiscal reporting back on track.”
The campaign kickoff event begins at 12:30 pm this Thursday at the Romano Gabriel Sculpture Garden in Old Town Eureka. The public is invited to attend.
