EPD Officer Matt White quits his job?

Eureka Police Officer Matthew White "came into EPD over the weekend (so he could avoid anyone in command), dropped off all his uniforms and gear,  and quit his job without even giving notice or speaking to anyone.  He is believed to be moving to Spokane, Washington ahead of any prosecutorial investigation and criminal charges. "

The information is from than one source. I am constantly updating the post today so keep checking for updates.

According to a department wide email, White is still employed and is "on vacation."  Seems like this "vacation" information/update was after my post. 

Is "vacation" a code word for putting in two weeks notice and/or checking other employment opportunities?

Time will tell. If you have not read the previous posts, then do so to understand why White's exit or potential exit is relevant. 

If you have been following my coverage on the "EPD text scandal", you know every scoop, breaking news and relevant information has been reported only on this blog. With White gone, how will this affect the investigation by the firm hired and paid big bucks by the City of Eureka ?

I have already followed up twice on the investigation status with the City of Eureka. EPD Chief Steve Watson has responded to me. The City of Eureka has been silent other than the initial response to the "EPD texts" that were anonymously leaked. If they wish to continue to stay silent and provide no update, no comment to the public; that is their choice. 

You have two officers and an EPD Captain on administrative leave. One officer who is crucial to this investigation with several questions unanswered about his own record "on vacation." The rest of EPD is expected to perform their job and with less staffing.

The Sacramento Bee has been silent since my initial post to now. Shitty, sensational article and then they slink away like cowards when facts and information come out. If they had done any real research, investigation or had a clue about what needs to be fixed at EPD, they would have included the information I have reported.

They have not responded to me and others. This is why people do not trust most media anymore. 

Agenda based reporting to make all police officers look bad instead of addressing real issues is due to politics and money funding crappy slop and passing it off as "journalism."

There are good local reporters and media such as ABC7 Bay area. Having a fancy site or corporation does not make you valid; the quality of your reporting does. 

Thad, you are a pathetic joke. I don't read the trash you write or consider the  publication that employs  you fit enough to line a bird cage/litter box.

People contacted me this weekend upset that you did not give me credit for reporting and breaking the news that EPD Captain O'Neill was on admin leave. People notice this from you and others who do this to me regularly. Like most people in Humboldt, they express the disatisfaction privately.

I told them I don't care. You have done it before and anyone who doesn't follow the most basic courtesy and rule of journalism, is not a reporter /journalist. This applies to other "local media" that do the same. 

Thad, I  have previously pointed out other examples in the past where you and others have not given me credit for reporting news first and breaking a story. Until I reported it, No one in the media knew Captain O'Neill was on admin leave. Your sending an email to confirm it with Chief Watson doesn't make it your original reporting. You are unprofessional, a joke and always have been a tool who needs someone like Paul Gallegos or a Public Defender to tell you what to write. When you actually left your office once in a while  years ago, I watched you fawning over these people scribbling down what to write. 

You made a major error in the Gary Bullock jury trial  that you were present for a couple of hours or less. Even after it was pointed out, it was ignored by  locals, readers, supporters and funders who continue to enable your sub standard regurgitation of slop. If they knew or cared what real journalism was or about Humboldt's reputation, they would hold you acccountable.

I wonder how your liberal readers and advertisers would feel knowing that Storme Winter did Lee Ulansey's bidding and handed you an article to write about the City of Eureka. 

If you were capable of real investigation, why don't you (or Hank) uncover the real reasons your buddy Andy Mills slithered out of Eureka. Just like Kailan Meserve and so many other cases or stories, you will ignore it because you don't have the guts to do real journalism. So, if you follow up on the Officer White news, either be a professional and give me credit or continue to be the hack you are printing a rag that has the same amount of copies sitting every week, unread, and picked up a week later from hotel lobbies and businesses and quite a few still left in NCJ boxes all over Humboldt.

LOCO gave and TS currently gives Matt Owen a pulpit to spew his nonsense. How upfront are you and Hank about meeting and talking to people that your readers, advertisers and funders may have no idea contact you about "news."

The same local liberals that chewed out Virginia Bass and a few others before are now hanging out like they are bffs. The fake moderates and conservatives that play both sides, your hypocrisyis obvious. You all change your opinion on politicians, businesses and whatever  based on what suits you at the time. Fake news exist because of the people who fund and support it.
