A petition to fire EPD police officers named in the March Sacramento Bee article has been started by Emily Mossman Smiley.
"From the petition: AFTER THEY ARE FIRED, divert the funds to a program similar to Eugene, Oregon's Cahoots (Crisis Assistance Helping Out On The Streets) which is an innovative community-based public safety system to provide mental health first response for crises involving mental illness, homelessness, and addiction."
"Is this petition about racism, mental health and helping people or funding some program for "professional protesters?" We seem to have a lot of them in California and the Pacific Northwest.
Smiley is a member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation. She was at the protest outside the courthouse earlier this month about these texts posted in the Sacramento article. Does she do anything besides starting petitions and professional protesting?
Sacramento Bee has spent more time on this Eureka text story than doing follow up on the former Sacramento police officer who was arrested for texting and sending nudes to a minor. They seem to be spending quite a lot of money, resources and time on this particular Eureka story.
