This is how the DA, Deputy Crosswhite treat a sexual assault victim?

 

I did two posts on Tammy Farmer's court case. In the first post on her arrest, I mention a post in Google search about her but did not mention that it was on Redheaded Blackbelt. 

Farmer contacted me on April 5. She referenced RHBB in her email. Read her email to me and the complaint her daughter sent to Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal. According to Farmer, Sheriff Honsal  requested an internal investigation.

I covered this case based on law enforcement and court records. I checked what Farmer sent me with court records. Her email to me and any information shared by her is just one part of a larger conversation and situation.

Email from Farmer:

Hi John,

I just ran across your blog and saw my picture from 02/01/22. If you have any questions about the case you can email me back  (address not published). My phone number is (not published). The article that was posted in Redheaded Blackbelt 03/31/20 and 04/01/20 was done out of retaliation for my involvement in a grievance I filed with Cal Fire which resulted in the termination of PIO Laura Coleman. 

In this case there was never a signed, requested nor issued warrant for my arrest.  HCSO made several false statements confirmed by Judge Wilson at a Marsden Hearing on 07/17/21.They never requested a search warrant, never came to my house to look for me or a gun. The HCSO never requested an emergency restraining order, the plaintiff never requested a temporary restraining order. For 4.5 months with zero contact the DA enhanced the charged and the judge automatically enacted a protective 10 year order which stands today. How much of a threat was I if they never came and looked for me and obviously I posed no threat. The morning of the trial I was looking at 14 years in prison. I was forced to plead my case due to overcharging. This is a smoke screen story that Kym Kemp covered. The real story is the sexual assult of my daughter who has filed a complaint 03/17/22. Sheriff Honsel has requested an internal investigation. My complaint will follow this week.

What happened here is not right. There was no gun. There was no justice. The good ol' boy system is hard at work.

I checked court records in Farmer's case. There were two Marsden hearings. One was denied on 3/12/21. Another one on 7/19/21 was granted. Deputy Public Defender Ben McLaughlin was relieved and Conflict Counsel's office was appointed. Marsden hearings are held in a closed courtroom.

There is a protective order to stay away from George Brightman. The plea form does not list the length of the protective order. There are no details about the length in court minutes.

"Good Morning John. The investigator in Cortney's Complaint contacted her about a week and half ago. He heard her side and he apologized to her and said that what she experienced is not representative of HCSO. He said Deputy Crosswhite was in the wrong and should be reprimanded in some way.  He also advised her that she still had the opportunity to file charges but to do it soon. 

Then on 03/18 Sheriff Honsel sent her this email:

I am sorry for the assault you had to endure and also for not meeting your expectations of a fair and impartial investigation.    I appreciate you reaching out to me.  regarding your complaint.  I am going to forward your complaint to my internal affairs division to look into.  You should be hearing from Lt. Allen soon.

Farmer sent a followup email correcting the date to 3/31 for Sheriff Honsal's email.

There is a rancher named George Brightman with ranches in Bridgeville and Blocksburg. There is a reference to running and branding cows in Cortney Reavis' letter to Sheriff Honsal.

Farmer was arrested for alleged criminal threats, assault with a firearm and personal use of a firearm enhancement. Farmer resolved her case on the day her jury trial was scheduled. She entered a waiver and guilty plea on one count; a misdemeanor. Three more serious counts were dismissed. No jail time. Probation and community service work.
