Courtroom 1 no audio. Started late. Judge Timothy Canning and attorneys talking. Briefly audio and a deputy talking then stream is offline.
I don't know what's going on with my courtroom" heard a deputy say.
Once again, had to put in effort to find out what is happening. Tech is working on it. This is at 8:51 a.m.
At 8:53 a.m. there is some private hearing. Knowing that defendants, attorneys media and public appear or watch proceedings via Zoom, how hard is it to a pretyped caption stating, "this livestream is currently in private session or not in session. Judges need to manage their courtrooms better and not have the burden fall on bailiffs or court tech.
Crickets as usual from court administration and CEO who haven't released any information for weeks. They still haven't bothered to tell people the clerk's office is open.
More arrogance from people in charge in Humboldt collecting government paychecks in and getting government funds not giving a damn.
Where is the money that the Judicial Council allocated for remote services and why are there these constant issues now that weren't when the pandemic related order was issued months ago?
Meanwhile Christopher Best is hanging out in the jail conference room for a receipt of PPRF form hearing.
Finally, few minutes after 9, Best's case was called. PPRF report was received. No future dates.
Before he left, Best said something about another matter "Ms. Sullivan" wanted to bring up and Judge Canning said she needed to file a motion.
9:26 a.m.: This is just one way I I know my blog is read and by whom. More people than you think. And I get immediate results.
Courtroom 2 was offline for the 9:15 p.m. preliminary calendar, once it opened a few minutes later, Judge Kaleb Cockrum said, "We have a clerk but no reporter. We are going offline. I encourage attorneys to keep talking." The livestream is up but Judge Cockrum's statement was appreciated. Thank you.
More disaster and impact on people's lives caused by incompetent elected officials nationwide and power hungry Public Health officials who think they are now celebrities and have mismanaged this pandemic, while they rake in money.
