Check cashing place on 5th Street in Eureka robbed, again
Check cashing place on 5th Street was robbed again. I did a post on an armed robbery in March while police were investigating. I have linked that post and another post from last year that wasn't a robbery but resulted in police response. That corner is a magnet for trouble with nefarious individuals and activity.
EPD Press Release:
On September 9, 2020, at about 5:40 p.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department responded to a check cashing business on the 1100 block of 5th Street for the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.
Officers contacted the victim who was an employee of the business. The victim said an unknown male forced his way into the business while brandishing a firearm. The suspect ordered the employee to the rear of the business and stole the till from the cash register. The suspect fled on foot with the till and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Officers patrolled the vicinity but were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect appeared to be approximately 5’10”, 185 lbs., and was wearing a mask, hooded sweatshirt, jeans, white shoes, gloves, a backpack, and was in possession of a handgun. This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released as available.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Detective Bise at (707) 441-4109.
