Her son already has a restraining order granted for three years and is facing serious criminal charges. Will Samanthia Carns' temporary restraining order become a permanent one?

Katelyn Costa is the petitioner against Samanthia Carns, who is the respondent. From what was stated in court today and what I observed at the very first court hearing on Kevin Carns, it appears Costa is the alleged victim in Kevin Carns' criminal case.

Temporary orders remain in effect until Judge Lawrence Killoran issues his written ruling on today's hearing. He is coming in over the weekend to work and this is one of the cases.

Judge Killoran will make his decision based on the criteria for such orders and according to the law. He has read the pleadings; I only got to see the testimony presented today. Costa's mother, Stacey, testified as her witness. Samanthia Carns' husband, Scott, testified as her witness. Both mentioned co-workers. Costa had Victim Witness Advocate Caitlyn Lahaie present during an incident after court.

Will Costa be able to prove her case, according to the law and get that permanent restraining order?

I believe Costa because I have personally experienced and witnessed similar behavior from Samanthia Carns.  I did not observe the incident in the elevator Costa described today or the road incidents between her and Samanthia Carns but I have had similar experiences with Samanthia Carns. I have also written about Samanthia Carns behavior in court during her son's hearing and outside court.

If a woman is disrespectful in court, to a Judge and to her own son's attorney, how do you think she treats others who incur her misdirected anger?

While I do not know either woman personally, I am familiar with both from the Courthouse and County for several years. Costa is soft spoken and Samanthia Carns is loud and aggressive. Samanthia Carns herself stated she is twice Costa's age in court. Costa's mother used to work for the County.

In court today, it was confirmed for me that Costa works at Humboldt County HR. I also got to see Carns on Zoom and it was "officially" confirmed she is the woman I have written about previously
She is employed with the County on the 5th floor where the Clerk Recorders office is located.

Carns almost assaulted me and hurled homophobic and trans slurs at me. Her husband Scott Carns assisted in her verbal and attempted physical attack against me at Wells Fargo. That did not result inan injury because I called EPD about it right then and documented on my blog. This was because I am covering her son's court case. I did check with Wells Fargo to see how to obtain security footage. I have documentation from EPD.

I, too, have experienced the stalkish behavior and Samanthia Carns following me around. I understand why Costa tried to avoid Samanthia Carns and take a different path because Samanthia Carns likes to create a scene and engage in confrontation, if given the opportunity.

The Samanthia and Scott Carns who appeared via Zoom today knew they were before a Judge and being livestreamed. They are not the same people that told me they don't care if I call the police.

After my last post, Carns has left me alone.

Kidnapping and assault suspect Kevin Carns' behavior makes a lot of sense. Look at how his parents behave. Kevin Carns faces life without the possibility of parole.

Samanthia Carns has involved the County, HR, the union in her Humboldt drama. She makes pretty good money. The County deserves better employees than someone creating their own local Jerry Springer show.

Sadly, there is a lot of this kind of drama behind many court cases.

Samanthia Carns retaliated against Costa by filing a complaint against HR. Samanthia Carns saying she pawned firearms to pay bail is not good enough. I hope she provided proof to the court.

"Samanthia is the mother of a criminal case I have with her son," Costa told Judge Killoran.

"The first instance with Samanthia was the very first day in court," said Katelyn Costa.  The Costas were with Victim Witness Advocate Caitlyn Lahaie. Samanthia Carns said to Katelyn Costa, "I hope you have a fucking...life."
