"Because of the high ceilings and circulating air, it is almost like being outside."

The Mark Dare jury trial is being held at the Eureka Veterans Memorial Hall.  Judge Kaleb Cockrum informed the jurors and others attending the trial "Before you all arrived, we  were visited by Dr. Baird from the Public Health Office."

"He said we were following the guidelines. Madam reporter was moved back slightly. Because of the high ceilings and circulating air, it is almost like being outside. Witnesses can proceed without face shields. There is still the plexiglass barrier."

Yesterday, Jane Doe #2 was wearing a face shield and sitting behind the plexiglass barrier. The bailiffs are sanitizing the seat, the barrier, the mic, the table in between witnesses. Attorneys and court staff have their own mics

Judge Cockrum, Court admin and staff and the bailiffs are doing an outstanding job with organization and safety in an offsite location.

Humboldt  Superior Court has done an excellent job with the courtroom set up.. The place is cleaned and sanitized daily.

Jane Doe #2 wrapped up her testimony. After the brief jury admonition, Jane Doe #1 started her testimony. She is still on the stand. We have had several in chamber conferences and a couple of breaks during Jane Doe #1's testimony.
