In the middle of the night, guy yelling "I don't care. I am not your friend."

For once, someone else called EPD,  as they should about the problem alley. At 2:05 a.m., EPD responded and I took this photo. A drunk guy had been screaming for at least an hour and arguing and fighting with the other transients and drug addicts.

The guy yelled at someone in the alley. "I don't care. I am not your friend." I saw an arrest for frequently arrested Gregory Taggart at that time and since he hangs out in this area, always drunk, it didn't surprise me and I wondered if he was the guy arrested last night. I just confirmed the time and arrest with the jail. Taggart, despite several arrests was released on O.R. because it is a misdemeanor. He knows that and he is out again, probably on 4th or 5th Street looking for someone to con, victimize until he gets arrested, again.

Another generational criminal, result of the useless foster care system and failure of Humboldt leadership's  to address the socio economic issues in this area for decades.

On Thursday, there were several problems with at  people tresspassing on private property where I live, shooting up,  creating a disturbance, drunk and fighting. I called EPD last night after the 6th one. I see the same name on the jail log, almost daily.

These problems increase on nights there are protests. EPD may have jurisdiction in Eureka but they are not responsible for who gets booked or released.

The top cop of Humboldt County has his office in the courthouse. These protests impact the jail.

Where was the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of Humboldt County on Thursday while protests were going on at and near the Courthouse?

Absent. No photo op so you won't find him around.

He sits in his car like a coward during protests while I, his deputies and other law enforcement are being berated by an angry mob.  I know because I saw him and talked to him when the BLM local protests started. All that show of kneeling plays for his cronies and supporters but it does not change the daily impact on those outside the Humboldt clique.

Sheriff William Honsal can collect his salary and continue to be protected by the good ole boys. They will approve anything he requests.

Who is ultimately responsible for the cite and release policy at the jail? Sheriff Honsal. Release and repeat. COVID 19 is no excuse to allow repeat offenders to go unpunished. What is their deterrent?

Many property owners in this area don't care about  crime or how it affects others. They feel entitled to rent or own a house but can't be bothered about their obligations or impact on their neighbors. There are areas and properties that are magnets for such activity for a reason. Want better tenants than adjust your greedy rates and hire reputable property management companies.

Businesses have expressed concern about the problems in the alley and all over Eureka.
Some call EPD and get temporary relief. I have reported numerous issues to City of Eureka Code Enforcement. They have refused and done nothing. They have refused to give me information on who is responsible for certain properties and fixing issues that are costing EPD resources and the taxpayers thousands of dollars. Eureka City Council does nothing. The City of Eureka only pays attention to lawsuits. They ignored HACHR until their incompetence and lack of leadership backfired and was exposed. And it wasn't exposed by other local media. They defended HACHR until the recent press release. I have consistently called HACHR out.

It wasn't exposed by the City of Eureka and the useless Council that takes credit for EPD's hard work.

If City of Eureka enforced their code violations and penalized slumlords instead of hard working busineses, several of these issues would be resolved. Many of these property owners have deep pockets and they are used to getting away with breaking the law and this is all over California.

COVID 19 has exposed the callousness and greed of large property owners and apartment associations. They are even suing the Trump administration regarding evictions. You claim property rights but none of the responsibilities or laws of owning a property apply to you?

COVID 19 has further exposed and revealed to more people that elected officials are useless except to get reelected and collect their salaries.

Whether it is street criminals or criminals with money, why should they care about laws? They know if they have the right connections and money, there will be no consequences. They know California's lax laws allow them to do whatever they want.

It has been four years since I did this last post on Eureka Natural Foods Owner Rick Littlefield. 5 DUIS. He got probation. Did not show up for his commit date to jail. He had 180 days in jail which he could serve on SWAP. I tried to follow up. No other media covered this story. They ignored it just as they have many others.

Why were so many resources by the HCDTF spent on Michael Acosta and what Matt Tomlin described as "small time drug dealers?" This is an issue all over Humboldt but in this case, First District Supervisor Rex Bohn complained and Sheriff Billy Bob delivered. So, once again, the good ole corrupt network delivers for their small clique.

If you don't want Murder Mountain to represent Humboldt, then stop being in denial about the true reality of Humboldt.
