If Mark Dare doesn't care about the Judge, the rules, in public, do you think he gave a damn about two young girls?

This offsite courtroom is creating unexpected issues, only because you have a defendant who has no clues about boundaries or capable of focusing on anyone but himself. At the courthouse, at least there are options to put physical distance and more access to bailiffs.

There are strict rules about entry at the Eureka Veteran Memorial Hall. Security does not get here until 8:15. HCSO bailiffs sometime around or after 8:15. The building is closed.

Usually, there are a few members of the public, maybe some jurors. Mark Dare was late yesterday, barely made it to court on time on other days. Public Defender Marek Reavis is not always here at the same time as his client. Dare has been very chatty before the building opens and in between court, while we are waiting on some tech issue or witness.

I get here early due to limited seating. Today, no one except one juror (sitting in her car) was around.

Mark Dare spoke to me once on September 21. Jurors were around. I briefly responded, told him not to talk to me. Today, he attempted again. I ignored him. He kept asking me questions, engaging me in conversation. I told him, again, not to talk with me. He is the defendant. I am covering this trial. And he is saying stuff that is beyond pleasantries. I don't know if someone is telling him about my coverage on the case. Or he is reading the blog.

He keeps  trying to engage  me, get my attention. He knows the routine of security and when he can get in the building. So, there was no need for his questions. Not liking being ignored, he yells at me, "I am just being polite. I am a human being." He keeps having chats that are crossing the line and not appropriate conversation. I am here to cover a court trial, not listen to Mark Dare's defense of himself, outside court.

I told him I was going to tell the Judge, if he did not stop. That did not deter him. "Go ahead tell the Judge!"

I was able to get the court clerk's attention, who was inside, getting ready for court to pass a message to Judge Kaleb Cockrum. I don't know if the Judge has addressed it yet, but he briefly spoke with the attorneys this morning before the trial started.
