HCSO SWAT and the Crisis Negotiation Team responding Mckinleyville for a possible hostage situation

"HCSO SWAT and the Crisis Negotiation Team are responding to 1600 block of Fischer Avenue in McKinleyville for a possible hostage situation with an armed suspect. A Humboldt Alert has been sent to residents in the area asking them to stay inside. PLEASE AVOID THE AREA while law enforcement works."

Explains the sirens I heard 20 minutes ago.

9 p.m. : Repeated commands for man to surrender, to come out safely.

9:30 update from HCSO: " We are able to confirm that a 26-year-old female victim is out of the residence safe. 30-year-old male suspect is still inside residence. Crisis negotiators are attempting to negotiate a peaceful surrender. HCSO SWAT, BearCat and Crisis Negotiations Team are on scene."
