A defendant brought their own children to sentencing today with no plan and no person to take care of them. While Judge Kaleb Cockrum acknowledged the concern about COVID 19, this was an in person sentencing which is specially set.
The sentencing had to be continued two weeks. I only saw a couple minutes and Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo in the courtroom.
Judge Cockrum was doing some sentencings before the Mark Dare trial today and I was watching to see if he was done. The only benefit to this sentencing was that Judge Cockrum was able to get to the Eureka Veterans Memorial Hall by 10:30 when the Mark Dare was scheduled to start.
