Eureka and greater Eureka area currently not under threat by wildfire

Despite air quality conditions worsening today as smoke and ash from nearby fires enter our region, Eureka and the greater Eureka area are not currently threatened by wildfire.

Despite today’s orange sky, there is currently no fire threat to our community at this time.   Please refrain from calling 9-1-1 or Humboldt Bay Fire’s business line for fire status information, as Eureka Police & Fire Dispatch is being impacted by non-emergency calls overwhelming the system.

Please keep emergency lines clear for emergencies.   There has been a local Humboldt County Evacuation Line established for information specific to fire evacuations, which can be reached at 707-268-2500.

Once again, please leave these lines open to people currently requiring evacuation.   If you are looking for a way to stay informed on emergency alerts for Humboldt County, including information regarding evacuations and emergency sheltering in the event of a wildfire or other emergency incident, sign up for Humboldt Alert at: humboldtgov.org/2014/Emergency-Notifications

We also encourage all residents to take this time to create or review their personal emergency plans and create or restock a disaster kit: www.ready.gov/plan  www.ready.gov/kit   Please continue to follow Humboldt Bay Fire and Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services for up-to-date information, and stay safe.
