People's request to remand Ryder Stapp into custody denied

Ryder Stapp was in court this morning with his attorney, Mr. Neal Sanders. Substitution of attorney was filed on 8/21.

Deputy District Attorney Trent Timm had filed a motion to examine Stapp's source of bail. Mr. Timm also requested that Stapp be remanded into custody and had argued that the funds used to post Stapp's bail were obtained through felonious activity.

Ryan Matthew Heddinger and his wife posted Stapp's bail. Mr. Timm went over Heddinger's record and said there was a link between profits from various marijuana grows that Heddinger managed and that profits were used by Heddinger to procure the house he put up as surety for Stapp's bail. Lost Coast Outreach LLC was one of the companies mentioned by Mr. Timm.

A Trinity County case was referred to by Mr. Timm. Listed below are the cases in the Humboldt Superior Court system:

Mr. Sanders opposed the motion and said no probable cause had been provided that the source of bail had been feloniously obtained.

Judge Timothy Canning ruled bail amount remains set and no change in custody status.

Intervention is on October 8. Preliminary hearing on 10/29.
