Analysis of fingernail scrapings from victim and information from DOJ leads to continuance in Richard Dean's case

Murder suspect Richard Dean was on calendar this morning for a motion to continue by the defense. Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads noted the four year anniversary of  Anthony Michael Pennucci's death.
Deputy Public Defender Ben McLaughlin presented his reasons for the continuance which included information on DOJ evidence that needs to be tested and information he needs to prepare for trial. One of those items is fingernail scrapings from the victim. Since this was a stabbing homicide, defense wants this evidence analyzed.
Retired Judge John Feeney ordered counsel.to meet and confer. A setting date of September 11 was scheduled.

There will be two phases to Dean's jury trial; one is evidentiary and the other for Dean's additional plea of not guilty by insanity.
