Received this very nice email this morning and I responded privately. I explained I don't have a copy, don't know if livestream broadcasts are saved and directed the person to Humboldt Superior Court.
It was private correspondence and I am not going to identify the person. I appreciate the emails and messages I get every day. I don't mind answering the rare and respectful email such as the one above.
However, there are others who think I am their personal secretary. People who take advantage and try repeatedly. Over the years and daily, I have provided you information on courts, crimes and how to get information from the jail log and court records. Call yourself, do the research or pay for my time. If you don't want to do that, then don't get pissy because you are ignored.
Others covered the Ryan Tanner case but people contact me because as pointed out by MendocinoSportsPlus and others, no one covers courts like I do. I also started this blog, built the interest in local courts, and I invest into this community regularly.
That online calendar fixed. You can thank me. That livestream running smooth today, you can thank me. It isn't popular to call stuff out but that brings about changes and it benefits you regularly.
People may not mention me but they read me and the changes and results from my coverage speaks for itself. These are just two examples. From the courts to government to businesses; they know I am effective. People call me first, including supervisors and business leaders, because they know when it comes to the correct information, getting information no one else has and information of interest to the community, I pursue it with dedication.
I appreciate all my readers but those who are loyal to me and remain loyal to me are special. I know the local pressure you go through and that public support means a lot. I appreciate my advertisers who stand by me.
There are many others express their support privately. I value you too.
However, some of who contact me privately, have the money and power to support me in public. You chose not to. You know I am effective, you compliment me yet opinions and kudos doesn't pay my bills. You chose to stand silent while I get attacked. You benefit from the quality and true journalism like everyone else.
To these specific people, don't pick up the phone when you need something and don't expect anything from me, especially since you expect to use my time, my knowledge, my talent and want it for free.
Do you work for free? Do you like your time wasted? I respect those who treat others with respect and value others and give proper credit.
My time is for those who value and invest in me and are willing to compensate me for work they want done. I fund this blog with my hard work. For one person putting out news and earning my income; what I do is exceptional. It is a miracle what I get done, despite the constant challenges and obstacles thrown at me daily. Besides ads, there are several options to support me.
Chatting and my free time is for my friends, my loyal readers and my loyal tipsters, not people who have watched me tirelessly give to this community for 18 years, benefitted from my efforts but are cheap and think they can take advantage. I definitely don't have time to waste on people who don't read me regularly, trolls, attack goons, family or sycophants from the very establishment, media and others I call out or those to cheap to hire a therapist.
With my blog and certain posts, I speak on behalf of many others who are afraid or prefer to have concerns silently because they know the "Humboldt consequences."
Most of you don't know me. Most of you don't have any idea of what happened from the moment I stepped foot in Humboldt 18 years ago nor do you care. Many of your opinions about me are based on lies and gossip. Those that really know me, are open minded, and genuine , I am grateful for and deserve my time and my friendship.
Some are in denial of their actions over the years that have caused us to be apart. My story about Humboldt is not unique. Many would relate and do relate. Do you take the time to get to know me and others? There is good in Humboldt and you have to search for it through the mire and despite the same media, businesses and politicians that destroy anyone that interferes with their status quo. If you are good; you don't fear competition.
Standing up for yourself and others gets you targeted. In Humboldt; anywhere. Yet, people are perfectly fine to enjoy the benefits that they did not earn.
There are many local businesses and individuals who have given to this community and are stellar local businesses. Even in this pandemic, the selfishness of certain people is evident. What have you done to support them? All this "I support local is bs," if your words don't match your actions.
Anyone can spare $5 to $10. Most of all, respect others, their time and if you are truly grateful, reach out to many local individuals and businesses in this community and thank them for what they do to make your life better every day and have for years.
Don't want to read this post? I don't want to listen to those of you that waste my time, cost me money and do zip to support me either.
