Hannah Hayhurst's father was in court today. Ms. Eads objected on behalf of the family. "It has been nearly two years since Hannah Hayhurt was brutally murdered," said Assistant Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads.
At the last court hearing, Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo made an offer to Ms. Eads to continue the preliminary hearing to coincide with the third doctor's report. She was going to speak with the victim, Hayhurst's family.
Mr. Russo was unavailable today. Deputy Publuc Defender Ben McLaughlin appeared on the case. A motion to continue with a declaration from Mr. Russo was provided to Judge Christopher Wilson. Moore's appearance
"Mr. Russo did provide notice to the People that he would not be available for the preliminary hearing today in light of an obligation to the Public Defender's office for a grant," saud Ms. Eads. She acknowledged that there were "good cause reasons" due to the COVID 19 pandemic and 1026 evluations.
"This is a very complex case," said Judge Wilson. "Mr. Russo is the assigned attorney." He granted the defense motion for good cause.
There maybe more changes with the preliminary hearing and case depending on the third doctor's report.
