Hit and run suspect has no license, no insurance and expired registration

On April 29, 2021, at about 4:00 p.m., officers of the Eureka Police Department responded to the intersection of Buhne and “H” Streets for the report of a vehicle vs pedestrian collision. While responding to the collision, it was reported that the driver and vehicle involved in the collision had left the scene.

Upon arrival officers located the pedestrian on the sidewalk at the southeast corner of the intersection. The pedestrian sustained moderate injuries and was transported by City Ambulance to St. Joseph ER for treatment.

Based on witness statements, officers began searching the area and located the involved vehicle in an alleyway within a block of the collision. The driver, identified as Alan Lee Ladd (58 years old of Eureka), was located four blocks east of the collision location. The driver was evaluated at the scene and DUI does not appear to be a factor. Ladd was ultimately taken into custody and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of hit and run, driving while unlicensed, no insurance and expired registration. His bail was set at $35,000.00.
