Convicted molestor Jonathan Marcks sentenced to 22 years in state prison

36 year old convicted molestor and Arcata resident Jonathan Marcks was sentenced by Judge Kelly Neel to 22 years in state prison after Marcks pleaded guilty to continuous sexual abuse of a child and lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14.

Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm was the prosecutor for the case. Marcks' attorney was Deputy Public Defender Luke Brownfield.

On July 6, 2019, in an interview with the Humboldt County Child Abuse Services Team, 11-year-old Jane Doe disclosed that she had been sexually abused by her father over several years.

An investigation led by Arcata Police Detective Victoria Johnson resulted in a recorded phone call that included self-incriminating statements by Marcks. Physical evidence was found at Marcks’ residence.

District Attorney Victim Witness Advocate Caitlyn LaHaie and District Attorney Investigator Ryan Hill  worked on the case. The California Department of Justice provided analysis of physical evidence.
