EXPANDED EVACUATION WARNING AREA.

The Hopkins Fire Evacuation Warning area for Humboldt County has been expanded to include all areas west of Bell Springs Road to Highway 101 spanning from Elk Creek Road / Dyerville Loop Road to the Mendocino / Trinity County Line.

**This is a correction to the press release issued at 3:22 P.M. on September 9, 2020 regarding wildfire evacuation routes for Southern Humboldt County. In the initial release, it was reported that Barnun Road was a viable route for those under mandatory evacuation for the areas south of Highway 36 in Bridgeville, and all communities along Alderpoint Road down to the Mendocino / Trinity County Line. Barnum Road is NOT a viable evacuation route from the wildfires as it is not a public road. Please continue to utilize Elk Creek Road, Dyerville Loop Road, Fort Seward Road or Alderpoint Road.**

Due to rapidly evolving wildfire conditions related to the Hopkins Fire, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services has issued an evacuation order and evacuation warning for portions of Humboldt County in preparation of imminent wildfire progression into Southern Humboldt County.

A dedicated Humboldt County Wildfire Evacuation Information Line has been established to assist community members with questions related to the Hopkins Fire and its impacts on Humboldt County.

CURRENT EVACUATION ORDERS AND WARNINGS

EVACUATION ORDER

At 12:48 P.M. on September 9, 2020, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office issued an IMMEDIATE EVACUATION ORDER for the areas south of Highway 36 in Bridgeville, and all communities along Alderpoint Road down to the Mendocino / Trinity County Line.

The Hopkins Fire is progressing northwest from the south. All residents in this area should evacuate now. Residents are advised to take Alderpoint Road as an evacuation route. A temporary evacuation point has been established at the Ferndale Fairgrounds.

EVACUATION ROUTES

Community members residing in areas under the evacuation order, utilize the following main evacuation routes traveling west, towards Highway 101 and away from wildfire activity: • Elk Creek Road • Dyerville Loop Road • Fort Seward Road • Alderpoint Road.

TEMPORARY EVACUATION POINT

The American Red Cross has established a Temporary Evacuation Point at the Ferndale Fairgrounds located at 1250 5th Street Ferndale, CA 95536. Water and fire information will be available at this site. More information regarding this site will be released when it becomes available.

EVACUATION WARNING

At 1:37 P.M. on September 9, 2020, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office issued an EVACUATION WARNING for the areas west of Bell Springs Road to Highway 101 spanning from Alderpoint Road to the Mendocino / Trinity County Line. This includes the City of Garberville. Prepare for potential evacuations, including personal supplies and overnight accommodations. Be ready to go at a moment’s notice. More information will follow if an Evacuation Order is issued.
