Seng Yang's wife denies seeing anything; her testimony interrupted and she spoke with an attorney
Kristy Lee was 16 years old when she married 19 year old Seng Yang. This was in 2000. Jane Doe, their child was born in 2003.
Lee worked Monday to Friday from 8 to 5. Most of the time Yang took care of the children. Lee said Yang spent a lot of time with Jane Doe but no more than time he spent with the other kids.
Lee spoke about the night she walked in on Yang and Jane Doe. "That night I woke up and went to Jane Doe's room. I didn't see anything. Jane Doe had a sweater with a blanket over her and Seng Yang was behind a table."
Lee said she could not remember what Yang was wearing. Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads asked her about what she told Eureka Police Senior Detective Ron Harpham.
"He was not wearing a shirt but a lot of times he does not wear a shirt."
Yang told Lee to leave the room.. Lee left the room, used the restroom and back to bed. She did not talk with Jane Doe; she talked to Yang.
"He didn't tell me anything. He asked me to go talk to Jane Doe and let her know everything was okay."
Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads asked Lee why her husband told her to tell their daughter "everything was okay."
"I don't know," said Lee.
Lee said she went to Jane Doe's room because "the light was on" and Yang's music studio was in the same room.
Ms. Eads: "How did you feel when you were in the room?"
"Honestly, I don't know how I was feeling."
Ms. Eads: "When you spoke with Detective Harpham, you told him, 'I did caught them once'. What were you talking about?"
"Just that one time when I came into Jane Doe's room," said Lee.
Ms. Eads: "What did you catch them doing?"
"They were not doing anything," said Lee.
Ms. Eads: "Were you angry with your husband?"
"It was late at night and I didn't understand why he was in her room at that time?"
Lee said there was an argument between her and Yang. She said she not angry with her daughter.
Ms. Eads: "Did you do anything to protect your daughter after that?"
Before Lee could answer Judge John Feeney said it was time for the afternoin break. During break, Lee met with an attorney, Conflict Counsel Supervising Attorney Meagan O'Connell.
After break, Lee's did not return. Her testimony was interrupted and the next People's witness was called to the stand.
