Oakland faces a $25 million deficit this year so that gax tax will be used to keep streetlights on, not fix potholes
Oakland has an estimated $25 million deficit in its operating fund this year. The city is planning to use $2.9 million in state gas tax money to keep its streetlights on and according to Mayor Libby Schaaf, the cost of medical benefits and pensions is partly to blame.
