The prosecution is winning, has a solid case against Seng Yang
Yesterday, Seng Yang's attorney, Deputy District Attorney Luke Brownfield cross examined Jane Doe. He asked some tough questions but was not able to impeach any of her testimony, even on recross. Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads asked Jane Doe some questions during redirect about Facebook messages.
Jane Doe is the first witness in any sexual abuse case whose demeanor, during direct examination and cross examination, was steady. She was not defensive and she was respectful when Mr. Brownfield questioned her.
Jane Doe is subject to recall. There was no inconsistency from the CAST interview that was brought up,so far. I don't know if the prosecution plans to play the CAST interview. It wasn't mentioned.
If the prosecution wants to keep winning, they wont play the CAST interview because it only gives the defense an opportunity to nit pick.
The prosecution is doing well. Even with some of Yang's wife's testimony differing from the opening statement, it benefitted the prosecution because Kristy Lee corroborated Jane Doe's testimony that she left the room and nothing changed after she walked in on her husband and daughter.
Former Eureka Police Officer Michael Huynh and EPD Detective Richard Bise were solid witnesses .HCSO Deputy Martin Perrone and former DA Investigator and EPD Senior Detective Ron Harpham who have yet to testify are experienced, solid witnesses. Their testimony will be the nail in Yang's "case coffin."
If the prosecution wants to drag out the trial and exhaust the jury, they can play an uneccessary CAST interview. The belaboring of basically the same information over and over for hours has worked against the prosecution in certain cases like Chad Smith.
They have messages, photos, video and based on what they have presented so far, that evidence with Jane Doe's testimony will prove the 16 charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
Short of some major twist that impacts Jane Doe's credibility, Seng Yang's stubborness to have his day in court will result in the same outcome it did for Mario Alexander and Cory Fisher.
