Seng Yang told Officer Huynh "don't tell my parents what I did."

Former Eureka Police Department Officer Michael Huynh responded to a call on January 5, 2018 about a sex assault on a minor.

Officer Huynh contacted Jane Doe and her sister and met with them at the EPD Annex 2. From there, he transported  them to the EPD headquarters and did an initial interview.

"I notified my Detective and Captain of the situation and handed over the investigation to them."

Later that day, Officer Huynh assisted with a search warrant on a Prospect Street residence. He transported Seng Yang to EPD.

Officer Huynh did not ask Yang any questions. Yang made a spontaneous statement while he was in the backseat of the patrol vehicle.

"It was something similar to don't tell my parents what I did."

Officer Huynh took Yang to the interview room in the EPD Investigations Department and stayed with him until EPD Senior Detective Ron Harpham arrived.

Deputy Public Defender Luke Brownfield had no questions for Officer Huynh.
