Aaron Hungerford charges reduced to misdemeanors


Aaron Hungerford had a hearing on this morning. Defense made an oral motion to continue. Jury trial scheduled for June 20 was vacted. All charges have been reduced to a misdemeanor.  The alleged victim in the case, Jane Doe, was with Hungerford in court.

She asked for a modification of the protective order before the preliminary hearing. She lives with Hungerford and is a relationship with him. After her testimony at the preliminary hearing, Judge Christopher Wilson said, "It is a pretty weak 273.5"

Trial confirmation July 25. Jury trial for August 26.

Charges have been reduced to a misdemeanor. Deputy Public Defender Rory Kalin has taken over the case. Mr. Luke Brownfield appeared for Mr. Kalin this morning.

Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees said he would not ask for a written motion if the defense stipulated that People could ask for a continuance if witness availability was an issue for the scheduled dates.

Judge John Feeney granted the motion.
