GOP vandalism case set for trial but charges reduced to misdemeanors

GOP vandalism suspect Michael Valls' preliminary continued this afternoon and the defense chose not to play any video footage today.

Yesterday, I mentioned there were several videos of the incident at the GOP office. Playing them would not have helped Valls.

After brief questioning of EPD officer Jeremy Sollom by Deputy Conflict Counsel April Van Dyke, there were arguments presented by attorneys before Judge Kaleb Cockrum's ruling.

As I mentioned in my post yesterday, Deputy District Attorney Luke Bernthal mentioned that the People had proved the elements of the crime.

Summary: Defense motion to reduce charges to misdemeanors granted. Valls held to answer on all charges.

Valls entered a time waiver. Trial confirmation is on March 29; jury trial is on April 5.
