Markis Shirley had three cases on yesterday. He is represented by Mr. Zack Curtis. One of those cases has two codefendants. They are represented by Mr. Russ Clanton and Mr. Joe Judge. That case was scheduled for preliminary hearing.
Mr. Clanton requested a continuance in the co-defendant case. Mr. Judge did not object. Mr. Curtis objected. Shirley did not waive time. Deputy District Attorney Luke Bernthal requested the preliminary hearing be continued for all three defendants. Judge Kaleb Cockrum granted the continuance.
Shirley's two other cases are "trailing." Today, Mr. Curtis withdrew his demurrer. It seemed the preliminary hearing was going to proceed. The case got sent to Courtroom Four and no livestream.
Next court date for Shirley is February 18.
If you think you are confused by this post. Try covering this case on a day where court cases are missing from the online calendar and not all cases are listed. Add to that the challenges of COVID 19 restrictions with no access to e court system or tye second floor with the usual multiple cases on at the same time with the schedule late and all over the place.
