Caltrans District 1 new traffic light at 4th and L is good news for pedestrians and nearby businesses.
For those who walk or tourists from Carter House who prefer to walk a couple of blocks to restaurants, barbers and other businesses on 5th street, this is safe and convenient.
"On Monday we will be turning on our new traffic signal at 4th and L Street in Eureka along southbound U.S. 101. This safety enhancement was constructed to reduce collisions and improve pedestrian access in the area."
"The signal will be time-coordinated with others in the area so wait times along this stretch should not be significantly impacted. If just one collision is prevented this will be a great addition for the traveling public. Thank you to our crews for the hard work that goes into proactively recognizing needs, analyzing collision data, and constructing the best course of action for facilities like this."
