While more than a million California workers are still waiting for unemployment benefits and many others have been denied due to the ineptness of the CA EDD, the agency rapidly paid a quarter million dollars to jail inmates, including convicted murderers, who ran a scam in the San Mateo County Jail.
San Mateo County District Attorney Stephen Wagstaffe said his office has charged 21 people. EDD asked no questions and the money was deposited into their accounts.
