The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services is monitoring the current wildfire situation occurring in neighboring counties and encourages residents to prepare now for wildfire activity.
Humboldt County residents are encouraged to sign up for Humboldt Alert to receive local emergency notifications, including information regarding evacuations and emergency sheltering, in the event of a wildfire or other emergency incident. Residents should also review their own emergency plans and ensure that they have a sufficient basic disaster supplies kit.
As of Tuesday (9/8/2020) afternoon, there are currently no evacuation orders or warnings within Humboldt County. However, the county is experiencing indirect impacts from nearby fires in Trinity County and fire weather, including unhealthy air quality and a current PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff.
The Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services is coordinating with the American Red Cross, Gold Country Region to plan for sheltering of individuals seeking refuge from evacuation zones related to the Hopkins Fire in the Mendocino National Forest, and is monitoring the Red Salmon Complex Fire situation in the Trinity Alps Wilderness for potential impacts on county residents.
