"I am very troubled by this case" says Judge Wilson while probation reccomendation remains unchanged

Sentencing was continued to this morning for Aaron Hooven, probation was asked to reevaluate him and one of the options Judge Christopher Wilson has is to reject his plea.

I covered the reasons why in detail from the last hearing and that post is linked below.

This morning, sentencing was continued again to December 18 so Judge Christopher Wilson could read the statement of mitigation by the defense and letters of support for Hooven.

The main reason it was continued was out of concern for public safety. Judge Wilson referred to Hooven shooting firearms into a vehicle.

"I am very troubled by this case," said Judge Wilson. "The victim well stated although his analogy to Jeffrey Dahmer was inappropriate."

Before court, Hooven's attorney, Deputy Conflict Counsel Owen Tipps told him that the probation reccomendation had not changed. When Mr. Tipps suggested possible options, instead of SWAP, Hooven said, "I'd rather sit it out." Mr. Tipps told Hooven "the jail gets full and you could get out early."

Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees is the prosecutor for this case.
