(Photo while Supervisor Bohn was in DC)
It is the day after Christmas and it is back to business for most of us. I ran into First District Supervisor Rex Bohn. "Why are you here Rex?" I asked him. No other Supervisor was in the office.
"Isn't every day a work day? he said. " I am here. Our employees are here." Supervisor Bohn said he is going to his district later. Supervisor Bohn is the only one I see early a.m. and on weekends. He manages to be in his district but he is also present and accessible and at his office every day. Supervisor Bohn works for all in Humboldt, not just his constituents and that is how all Supervisors should be.
It is that kind of work ethic that makes events like the Trucker's Christmas parade possible. The event raised over 22,000 for the Boys and Girls Club. "This was a free, family Christmas tradition and this year was better than ever," said Supervisor Bohn. "It was put together in a short time. This event is just one of the examples of the generosity and hard work by local businesses and community members."
The two paragraphs below are my observations.
Work ethic and a certain mentality separates the two kinds of people in Humboldt. Some see Thanksgiving and Christmas as an excuse to take the entire week off.
The rest of us work because we have to, chose to and because people who are self made and build businesses on hard work know there is no down time.
