" I want to approach and not put a lot of stuff on record."

Murder suspect Connor Whited's preliminary hearing was continued to this morning because his attorney was unavailable. Once again, at the last minute, his attorney made an oral motion to continue the special set for a two day preliminary hearing.

Before court, Deputy Conflict Counsel April  Van Dyke told Deputy District Attorney Adrian Kamada, " I want to approach and not put a lot of stuff on record."

Ms. Van Dyke said she spoke to Whited this morning. She spoke with him again privately in court. On record, she made an oral motion to continue "for reasons stated on the bench."

"People are ready," said Mr. Kamada. "We object to the continuance, we waive written notice but submit to the Court for good cause."

Retired Judge John Feeney granted the defense request. Whited did not look happy. He reluctantly entered a general time waiver.

Victim is Brett Keiling.

Whited is charged with the murder of Keiling and a special allegation that he used a deadly weapon; a club.

Another intervention is scheduled on January 7. Preliminary hearing on January 9.
