Even before Jeff Tsarnas' preliminary hearing started, two Judges disqualified

Jeff Tsarnas' hit and run preliminary hearing was scheduled as a special set on December 20 at 8:30 a.m. because the case had been continued many times. It was continued again until this afternoon to 1:30 because first the People disqualified Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis; then the defense disqualified Visiting Judge Samuel Stevens.

So for an hour nothing happened. While we were waiting for the case to be assigned after two Judges were disqualified, I said this is the prelim from hell that never proceeds. This is the 6th subpoena for CHP Officer Matt Harvey. I told him, "maybe if you dont show up, the hearing will actually proceed."

Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees is the prosecutor for the case. Mr. Neal Sanders is Tsarnas' attorney. Mr.Patrik Griego represents the alleged victim, Marie Kelley.

People's witnesses include CHP Officer Harvey who will definitely testify. Whether Barbara Craft shows up or the alleged victim testifies remains to be seen.

At previous court hearings, it was stated on record that according to witnesses Tsarnas had been doing meth and drinking alcohol on November 27, 2018 the day of the hit and run.

Tsarnas did not turn himself in until later. Tsarnas has a misdemeanor conviction for marijuana from 2017. According to  witnesses, Tsarnas was driving 60 mph. Tsarnas fled the scene after hitting Kelly. Tsarnas told police he thought he had hit an animal and not a person. The incident occurred in Fernbridge in November 2018.
