"Let's go and sit behind John"

Arraignment for Rita Pimentel and her son Robert Fregoso took  place this afternoon.

Pimentel was not in court today. Fregoso walked in with a woman and said, "let's go and sit behind John."



The courtroom was mostly empty. I got up and walked over to the other side. Fregoso had a smug look on his case. He has hired private attorney, Ms. Heidi Wells. Instead of focusing on his arraignment, he kept looking at me.

Courtroom 1 bailiff told him to keep his eyes forward. Sgt. Bryan Franco, who was aware of this morning's scene by Fregoso was present in court. Fregoso has now been warned by me and the bailiffs.

Fregoso entered a general time waiver.

Fregoso is charged with one count of worker's compensation fraud and one count of failure to secure worker's compensation insurance.

Pimentel is only charged with one count failure to secure worker's compensation insurance. She is being represented by Mr. David Nims. Mr. Nims appeared for Pimentel as he had filed a 977 waiver. He also entered a general time waiver.

Intervention is on February 18. Preliminary hearing is on February 20.
